The Call on Your Life

March 1st

The call on your life is not just about you.

I heard Sadie Robertson say these words at her latest conference and it stood out to me so boldly. I believe that these words resonated with me because I am on the other side of living out a calling. If you are new here, I just recently moved across the country to Arizona. In chasing this dream I have been abundantly met with the feeling of fulfillment and recognize the impact my decision has made on other people in my life.

So, I write these words from a place of experience and wisdom. I write these words from a place of wanting to inspire you to live out the call on your life.

Let’s first identify–what is a calling? From my own understanding, a calling is when your heart is pulling you in a specific direction. Sometimes this direction is explainable, and sometimes this direction takes you to a place you never thought you’d go. Regardless of where you are being led, it gives you this desire to become more than the person you already are.

At one point in time I believe we have all reached a point where we’ve been called to something bigger. The truth of it is, we are meant to change and grow into new versions of ourselves. If you look at the world around you–it is constantly evolving.

Yet, sometimes, our calling requires more than we are willing to give.

We get to a place of being stagnant and instead of making traction in the direction our souls are leading us, we choose the “easier” route. That easier route being the status quo, the life that other people ask us to live.

From a place of knowing I tell you that this only sustains for so long. It is easy to believe that the alternative options–going to college, buying a house, having a baby or getting a puppy–is a “good enough” solution to fill that void. Yet, it never does.

The desire to chase your dreams will always be there.

So what are you being called to do in this lifetime? When you are faced with such a question, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

Now I want you to imagine how living out that calling could not only change your life, but the life of the people around you as well. In the event of you chasing your dreams it will inevitably inspire other people to do the exact same thing.

Allow that truth to be your reason why.

For as long as you stay hiding from the desires of your heart, the longer fulfillment gets prolonged. For as long as you stay hiding from the desires of your heart, the longer other people will remain stagnant in their lives.

At the end of the day it has to be you. You are the only one called to do it.

Let me be the person that reminds you that the call on your life is not just about you. In chasing the dream and living out the calling, your testimony will make a difference for generations to come!

So go do the thing, friend.
